Mt Whitney Zone Forums General Discussion dayhike permit Oct 2, 2012 Tuesday

So am a nubie here. I have permit for 3 people for Oct 2. And I wont use it anymore. If I cancel I wont get any money back. Are there any other option to take and maybe get some money back? Im sure I am not the first one to have done something like this.

JMonts, sorry for your misfortune. If I could tell anyone or everyone, people should never enter the lottery for May or October dates -- there are always open slots from no-shows and cancellations (except maybe for Memorial weekend, and the first October weekend.) See the Unused Permits pages.

Unfortunately, permits cannot be transferred, so there isn't much you can do. I hope you asked your two friends for their share of the permit expense.
