Hi!

My Whitney hike is in Aug and one of our crew will celebrate her 50th on the trail.

Any suggestions for marking this auspicious occasion? I was thinking about cupcakes but the mode of transit may present a problem. Brownies are a thought.

Thanks in advance,

Paula

Cupcakes!

A few of us did a tutus and cupcakes climb last year. Cupcakes taste GREAT on Whitney!

DobeMom packed the cupcakes in tupperware and surprised us at Lone Pine Lake. We ate a few there and took the rest up to Trail Camp. Well worth the carry!

A little schnapps doesn't hurt either....

I was thinking of a portal pancake but you need a litter to transport it...grin...so, as you were.

Cupcakes are good as suggested...Maybe the Costco variety...(Did I say that? Being the "organic" person I am. Wifey pooh would kill me.)...

Brownies ain't too bad either.

Happy 50th to the member of your crew. What a way to celebrate a milestone in life.

Topping it off with a summit would be "the icing on the cake."

I am on a roll....oooooo...cinnamon rolls. I made a funny. laugh

OK, I stop now. whistle

Journey well...

Sure you don't want Angel Food cake while being so high up ?

Fruit cake - I have eaten it at 19,500 feet
Is a bit heavy and dense but that helps it travel well.

Harvey, good one! Angel food cake I like that!

Fruitcake: Is this the same stuff that has a shelf-life of 100 years and seems to be exchanged around Xmas time? Blech! sick

I have an ultralight baking set up that I use. I've done fresh muffins, small cakes, cornbread, etc. It's pretty fun to have hot, fresh-baked goods on the trail. smile

I use a 1.3 liter titanium pot as a sort of Dutch oven along with a 5" aluminum baking pan. I did a write up on it if you're interested.

I've used my rig to make other things like cornbread (the Marie Callendar's mix is pretty good).

And biscuits. The honey biscuits from BisQuick are pretty good in my opinion.

Here's my write up on my particular UL baking system: Ultralight Baking if anyone is interested.

For real? Hmm. Now that sounds like a nice option. I'm going to look for that the next time I'm at the store.

And what? Bring some fruit to put on top?
