It's late at night here in Oz, however, many of you in the Northern United States will experience a once-in-a-lifetime solar event. When and Where and perhaps Why are explained in this Wired article. Heavy math is involved. Don't worry, just enjoy the eclipse, using proper eye protection.

WAGGA

I met a guy here in the Sierra whose mom lives near Wagga Wagga.

He said you guys pronounce it "Wogga" and only one of the two.

Eclipse is not quite once in a lifetime. I saw the one in 1970. That last 1% of totality is unbelievable. It gets much much darker, the birds stop singing, and the wind dies down. No wonder ancients thought the world was ending.

This one passes over west and east coast of US. I think I get a third look in 2024
