Thanks!

It was a tough day. Very happy we didn't give up b/c I'm not sure I'd be able to convince myself to go back for more grin

The hike was so tough with the fresh powder that I wore a wind breaker (rain shell) with just a t-shirt underneath most of the day. I'm glad I packed the extra clothing though. Another hiker used my trigger mitts and insulation layer.

There are a couple routes up to the top. I've done the most direct and steeper route as a climb and as a snowshoe...the latter was the hardest day trip I have ever done. This is lot easier as a climb on crusted or consolidated firm snow than as snowshoe.

I am assuming the route you took was the spur off the Christmas Tree Hill Super Highway.

Chevy,
In your report you mentioned post holing to mid-thigh. Was this with snowshoes on?
Magnificent trip, but huge effort:-)

The Pats hat. like!

I assume you deflated all air from the hat before hiking. grin

I always love the pictures you take and this one is no exception. Wish we'd get more snow in CA.

Yeah, we went south from the meadows until we hit a ridge that almost runs directly east-west.

Thanks John. It was with snowshoes. I was with three other people. The girls were ok, but both of the guys were really struggling with the post holing.

Yes sir, that air is super heavy; no need to carry that to the top grin
I should give the hat a good wash - it looks like some of Jerry Rice's stickum is on it.

Thanks! I was in the area again Saturday and it was a little depressing to see how much of the snow is gone already. We got up to 9200' without using snowshoes.
