Attempting Mt Whitney hike on May 4th (not the MR) any recommendations, trekking poles or ice axe or both? Completed the hike September 2017 no snow.

Bring ice axe, crampons, and real boots. Ski poles are helpful. Be sure that you know how to use everything before you get there.
