Mt Whitney Zone
I finally got my name drawn in the Whitney lottery after a couple years of trying and am doing an overnight on June 24th. I know it is early to know how the weather is but I am budgeting for gear and want to know what type of recommendation and weather you guys think I should expect during this weekend as it is still early in the season. Thanks again for your help!
June is usually quite dry in the Sierra. What I do is pack a tent in the car, but if all the weather predictions are for good weather, I'll leave it in the car.

I'll leave it to others to discuss clothing.
Thanks a lot Steve! So I dont have to be worried about to much snow on the ground then at camp or at the summit?
Generally cold nights, but warm days. Take some rain gear, just in case. Take your food in an approved bear canister.
I've done Chicken Spring Lake to Cirque Peak and the Cottonwood Lakes basin in mid June 4 or 5 times.

I have taken my usual mid-summer clothing each time, 3-season down jacket, Driclime wind shirt and w/b jacket as my core clothing items...along with a 15* F bag. Unlike Steve, I've run into a couple of major T-storms during these trips.

At this point my guess is crampons and ice axe will not be necessary but Microspikes and trekking poles most likely will be for an area between Trailside Meadow and Consultation Lake and the 97 Switchbacks. However, I plan on having the former just in case.
