Sigh. And the guidelines are so clear: you don't give the bear the keys until after he shows you he knows how to override the childproof door locks. No matter how bad he needs to get to the 7-11. Don't people in Boulder read?

Have you ever heard of someone's car insurance covering bear damage? I have always wondered about this.

Yes, as long as you have physical damage coverage on the vehicle it would be covered under the "other than collision" provision of the policy, also referred to as comprehensive.
