Mt Whitney Zone

Hello,

I am considering a winter ascent of either Mt Whitney (MR?) in the near future.

After doing some research, it would make sense for me to learn at least rope and cramponing skill, anchoring, self arrest and belay.

I found a few schools located out of state like RMI and NOLS but I struck out for California.

Do you have any recommendation of a school? Anything around Bishop or Lone Pine? I'd hate to go further North....

Thanks in advance.

Chris.

I found their web site two seconds ago

I think I need to contact them since there is little info on what kind of programs they have.

Thanks!

The link I posted is their Instructional Programs page, which has a ton of info, including a course on snow travel, but has a lot of TBA under dates

The SMI people take clients up the MR in winter all the time. You could combine your winter skills training WITH a trip with them up the MR. Two birds.... smile

You'll be in good hands and have fun, too.

Check with the others -- it might be the same possibility with them, as well.
