My favorite Fresno Bee reporter Marek Warszawski published an article Saturday:

Fearless skiers descend vertical Clouds Rest in Yosemite

These guys had to rappel some 500' in order to ski down the rest. Pretty crazy, but interesting anyway.

I recall being across from Half Dome, early one April and, upon hearing thunder in otherwise clear skies, looked up canyon. The entire face of Clouds Rest was in motion - thick slabs of snow rumbling down the face. It was the biggest avalanche I have ever witnessed.

The author of the article was probably right when he said that skiing it once was enough!

Steve, you and I had the same experience as Bob West. Remember hearing the thunder and looking back to see Clouds rest in full avalanche mode?
