Does anybody know the conditions on the Eastern Approach via Whitney-Russell Saddle to Mt. Russell?

Sorry to take so long to reply, HH. Mt Russell is one that the more enthusiastic climbers do, so not many here will report on it.

Looking around, Kurt Wedberg (guide from SMI) posted a picture about 2 weeks ago of Mt Russell from the Mt Whitney summit showing the east ridge. It looks like any worries with snow are over.

Here's the picture. KW's caption, "Here's a photo showing the SW Chute of Russell taken yesterday May 18:"

And then "graham" posted this picture with the message:
"As of Sunday (June 2) Russell East Ridge is pretty much free of snow, just a few patches that can be stomped thru (carefully!)."

His album is here: Carillon and Russell, June 2, 2013
