Hello,

I just purchased my permit for the 12th. I'd like to get an alpine start and get some use out of my headlamp. I am looking for at least one other person to share this experience with. My parents don't want me to do it alone although I am quite confident in my capabilities and hike knowledge. I wouldn't mind tagging along with a larger group... Let me know if this works for you. I am not one to take many breaks and I'd like to summit at a reasonable time.

What do you consider a reasonable time for summitting?

I'll be headed up Whitney on June 12th as well. Plan on leaving the Portal by 4:00 am. I'm no speedy gonzalez and just started back into hiking last year . I have been up Mt Shasta twice and Mt Lassen dozen or more as they are in my backyard, so to speak. I plan to use the switchbacks as it looks like the chute will be too thawed for my taste. If nothing else you can say you're going with someone. People seem worried about me going alone too. Lol Though, it's what I'm used to.
