Does anyone know the conditions of Mt. Langley via New Army Pass? I am hoping for a day-hike summit on Friday, June 12th, sleeping the night before @ the Trailhead Campsite. Thanks!
It's gorgeous up there right now. I did a run around Southfork lakes this day but NAP looked great!

I hope to get back up there in the next few weeks to run up Langley so pls post pics of conditions. Thanks!
Here's one of the pictures from Carine's link:
You GO, Carine!! Thanks for posting.
Thanks for the responses. Good the see NAP almost melted out. Well, something came up so I cannot go this week....I'm going on June 26th....hoping for Old Army Pass to be doable without crampons/ ice ax by then, and with just poles and sure footing.
I'm planning on going up the Tuttle Creek route on Saturday, June 20. I'll provide a trail report and keep you appraised of the conditions.
There has been quite a bit of thunderstorm activity the past couple of weeks over Mt. Langley and trails out of Horseshoe Meadows. Has anyone experienced any lightening strikes in the area? I'm thinking I should cancel my Langley day hike this upcoming Saturday due to safety concerns and reschedule later in the summer.
Gina, I think the pattern is breaking up. Checking weather predictions now, the humidity and related Sierra storms seem to be dissipating. I would watch the forecasts, and decide about Wednesday whether or not to go.
Steve, I'll definitely keep an eye on the forecasts. Thanks!
Yesterday was splendidly gorgeous to day hike Mt. Langley, the weather was good to me. I was a bit slower than I anticipated, most likely comes with the territory. *smiling*
Hey Gina,
Nice job on bagging Langley. Did you hike up New Army Pass or Old Army Pass? Regardless of what pass you hiked, What were the conditions like on the pass?
Thanks,
Mark
Hi Mark,
We hiked up NAP, which is clear of snow. On the way out, we walked over to the OLD Army area, still snow on the cornice. There was a nice NPS gal (she placed the new register on Langley that morning) we met along the trail; she advised strongly against OAP. Good enough for me; I'm a fair weather hiker gal so NAP much safer for me!
Gina
Ha! I missed you on the summit...maybe next time!
Gina,
Thanks for the update on the conditions. I appreciate it. Looks like NAP is the way to go until OAP clears up a bit more. I was planning on a Tuttle Creek summit of Langley with an exit via OAP this weekend, so I'll post up a trip report with the conditions on OAP if we feel like it's safe enough to descend. If it's too dicey, we'll exit NAP.

I have 4 of us going up and 3 planning to summit on Saturday. We all plan to walk to cottonwood lakes and one will fish while the others summit. Does anyone know which lake is best for fishing these days?
Most likely will be bait fishing if that matters.
