Does anyone have news of the father/daughter group that started hiking on Saturday Oct 3? They were going to the first camp - did they get down safely? Just wondering as we were day hiking along with them. Thanks!

mabbott, generally no news is good news. Only a small percentage of Whitney hikers read or post here, so chances of hearing from them are low. There were several calls for Search and Rescue help last weekend, but I think they got everyone out ok.

Where did you part from the pair you are asking about, and what were the conditions like?

We parted ways @ Lone Pine Lake when skies were still clear... they had plans to summit after camping - but that was the night that it snowed heavily. I don't think they had any idea that snow was predicted. I am sure they got out safely ~ but I was wondering!
