Hi,
i got the day pass on labor day weekend, can anyone give an idea on how hot it will be in september during day time after 10am. Accordingly we will have to plan the start time of our home. From all my personal experience, hiking on a day > 80F slows me very much and I get tired very often. I hope this wont be the case in september.

So input on this would be very helpful

Thanks

The air temperature is unpredictable. We used to start hiking in the dark wearing t-shirts and shorts. Then the layers come up by halfway up. On some years, there was a stiff breeze at the summit, so I was wearing two layers on the bottom and four layers on top, with a warm hat and a shell hood. Thin gloves are not out of the question.

Often the wind is not blowing, so some of those layers are unused.

Basically, you have to protect yourself from bright sun and wind. It could be raining or snowing.

One of our guys made a speed dash from the parking lot to the summit wearing a t-shirt and shorts. When he reached the summit, he pulled on full Goretex top and bottom shells with no insulation. He froze his butt. We made it up there 45 minutes later, and that guy had to dash down in order to generate enough heat.
