Will tent stakes work at the Whitney Portal Campground, or is the ground too hard?

Pretty sure I didn't have any problem using stakes. Worst case, there are lots of rocks around the campground.

I've been camping at the Portal for Memorial Weekend for over 30 years (actually, my father started taking the family to the Portal in the early 50's) and never had any problem. Yes, you may hit a rock here and there, but you just move the stake a foot or two.
