Place your bets. Interested in hearing everyone’s best guess.
I think June 1st.
At the earliest, Yosemite will reopen May 1st (campgrounds closed through April 30). Coupled with the fact that weirdo euros won’t be able to plague Inyo this year I’m hoping it opens on the earlier side.
Hard to say, I feel like even when businesses like restaurants start opening back up like normal, things like campgrounds and parks will still be seen as "super non essential" and remain close for a while.
I live in Yosemite and inside word is that the park and campgrounds will open around May 15th (May 1st has been publicized, subject to change). Yosemite has a lot more pedestrian traffic, so I would not expect Inyo to delay past Yosemite. Both parks fall under the US Forest Manager four the general Sierra region.
Ace, based on some of your recent posts, I'd take anything you say with a healthy helping of skepticism. And national parks and national forests operate under different organizational structures such that parks would not "fall under a US Forest manager 'four' the general Sierra region."
Any updates on when the trail may reopen?
I know Gov. Newsome said that stay at home orders would go on until May 15 at the earliest. I was fortunate enough to get permits for July 23rd and am wondering what my chances are at this point.
I've got a permit for 5/25. Is this basically a lost cause? Making plans as if it's not.
