I am just back from the Portal where I staid at the family campsites.
A change was made to the campsites reservation system at Recreation.Gov, in that all sites are now reservable. There are no more first come.
This past weekend I witnessed many people driving up looking for campsites that in past years were first come. It was sad to watch them being turned away.
According to the camp host, this change was made approximately 2 weeks ago and is permanent.
