Sad, but true.
Every morning during our commute from our home in Oakhurst to Fresno, we descend into the "Pit" on the south side of the Deadwood grade between Oakhurst and Coarsegold.
When the sun peeks above the Deadwood crest, you see the devastation these insects have done. From the view from the road, there are literally hundreds of trees dying.
Around Bass Lake you can see thousands of trees affected as well.
Around our house, we have at least 30 Ponderosa pines. We may lose them within a couple of years if a solution is not found.
