I climbed to Lower Boy Scout Lake on Saturday via the Rockwell north-side route below the Ebersbacher Ledges. But first, we started our morning here:

Steve: Pics of the Rockwell route? Is it a bypass of the E-ledges or an approach to them? If a bypass, bushwhack through the willows or snowpack over them?

The Rockwell route avoids the two crossings of the North Fork Lone Pine Creek. It hugs the base of the wall on the north side, and on one spot actually ascends part of the wall, follows a ledge, and descends back down coming out where the regular south side route comes back across the creek.

The videos here were made along that route (end of video "NFLPC4", last of Part 1, and all of Part 2). I actually watched those videos just before starting the hike to refresh my memory.

One of the pictures on the route last weekend:

And Saltydog, you will appreciate this picture: Dipping and Drinking.

I felt pretty good about just scrambling up to the bottom of the arch to be able to take the picture.
Getting on top of it? Another skill set altogether. Ahh,youth.
