Anyone here who has done the hike up to Everest Base Camp? I am going in late October and am having trouble figuring out how to make the 15kg luggage limit on the flight from Kathmandu, Nepal to Lukla (known as the most dangerous airport in the world). Anyone who has any experience here I would love to talk to you. Thanks in advance.

15 kg is 33 lbs. Seems like a medium-sized travel bag. Searching the web, that appears to be the limit combined for both stowed baggage as well as carry-on.

So... wear your heaviest items: Hiking boots, warmest coat, etc, carry no water... Put stuff in your pockets.

Good luck!

Yeah, there are really a lot of companies that have treks going all over the world. I am going with a company called World Expeditions. They do all of the local planning and permits, you just have to get yourself to Kathmandu.

Hopefully, Kurt Wedberg owner of Sierra Mountaineering International based in Bishop will see your post and respond to you. Kurt has summited Everest twice and he leads expeditions to Everest Base Camp. I see Kurt's posts on the Whitney Portal site and sometimes on the Whitney Zone.
