It is a gorgeous thing indeed!!! I thought this was supposed to be a dry La Nina year. Keep it up!

A desperately needed reprieve.

Check this out from this morning. I'll make it the overnight view.

(The above pics will change each day, since they come from the pages linked below.)

If anyone cares, this is what I use to check the past 2 days' shots:

snow in the desert... don't see it down that low very often.

It'll be 100%+ percent of normal snowpack in the southern Sierra when this storm is done, and it's only January.

Pretty wild!

This computer-generated snowpack estimate for the southern Sierra from CDEC shows"

"Percent of Average for this Date: 197%"

I altered the zoom level on the Whitney webcam -- now it shows all the snow around Lone Pine!

Willi webcam is off-line. Likely due to a power outage.

yes, but we are at over 100% for April 1 as well. On Jan 20, it was 95% for the southern Sierra. But I guess we were looking at almost the same graph

Maybe that section of the trail before the Whitney Zone will be closed off due with all of this snow and you have to "ice axe" it. grin
