The Tioga Road (Highway 120 through the park) is closed due to snow. The road will open on June 29 at 8 am, conditions permitting.
Yeah, but the trailheads are still going to be packed in with snow for a bit longer up there.
I was actually planning a hike form Tuloumne meadows over the 4th weekend.
Now just a Big Oak > El Cap > North Dome hike.
Might drive up to the meadows after my hike to check out conditions up there.
Walking through a winter wonderland...
IN JULY!!!!!!!
Yeah, buddy!
I expect parking to be very "limited" and "first come first served."
I was just up there last week, talking with the rangers at the Mono Lake station. Even that short of a time ago, they were estimating a mid-July opening, so this is a pleasant development. There's still ice on many of the lakes up along that route, and big ole snow banks on each side of the cleared road up to the entrance station to Yosemite.
