Hi,
For those of you who completed the main trail past 2 weeks, is there any place in the 99 switchback where I can fill up (I have a filter)? Thanks for sharing your experiences here. It's really helpful getting ready for my first Whitney hike in July.

On 6/18 there was a small stream that flowed across lower switchbacks, there was snow by the cables, and there was some water above the cables. I'm not sure if water above the cables will last till July.
The spring flowing above switchback 22 is the last running water until late summer when it can dry up (on a dry year) or freeze up on cold mornings.
Here's Wayne Pyle's switchback map showing the spring: (click for the full-size view)

BTW, Eugene, I saw your post about filters on the WPSMB. Don't worry about Giardiasis showing up. Instead, you can read the old water discussions in the "
Links to important Whitney information". This is my favorite:
60,000 Liters of Water Consumed -- Untreated
I saw it, and I'm not too worried, but you never know. I saw too many abandoned WAG bags along the trail to have perfect confidence in the water that flows near that trail.
Thank you so much for the valuable info.
Really appreciated it .
