So, my regular rain jacket didn't work very well on Mt Meru, so I ended up renting a Sprayway rain jacket for Kilimanjaro that did seem to work better to keep me dry.

So I've decided to look into getting a better rain jacket before I hit the JMT in July/August.

Any suggestions?

I see you haven't had any responses... I have a Marmot Precip rain jacket that I've used only a handful of times. (Living in SoCal tends to minimize the frequency of needing a rain jacket. wink ) I don't love it and likely will never own a rain jacket that I do love until/unless a new fabric is developed that's waterproof and doesn't make it seem like you're wearing a fitted tent while hiking or backpacking. But it fits well and keeps me dry, even in a downpour. I haven't seen anything else out there that works better, especially for the price.

I use a Columbia Roan jacket. Survived in the Alps through multiple episodes of rain, kept me comfortable. Doubles as a good wind breaker too.
