Agassiz! I haven't been there, but recognize the peaks in your picture: North Palisade (right), Mt Sill (left), and Middle Palisade (in the middle).

Good eye Steve. I was responding to mountainwalker85 about the register. Couldn't find it on my trip.

I know this one is old but the Agassiz register went missing last year if I remember right. Probably Stolen. Someone has been stealing registers the last few years. Many long term ones like Black Kaweah dating back to the 1920's have been stolen.

Mt. Brewer has no register right now either.

Rogue,
I've heard about those thieves, but didn't realize Agassiz was hit. I usually don't sign registers, but can't see why people would go stealing them.

Last month was my first time on Thunderbolt, Starlight, North Palisade, and Polemonium. The last 3 had the Sierra Register Committee's register boxes dating from the early 90s, but the only thing on Thunderbolt was a plastic bottle. I heard Thunderbolt had one, but I guess it's been stolen as well.

Who knows why people do the things they do. I have taken to Secor's idea that the proper way to sign a register is just basic information like name, date, route and maybe where you are from. Nothing more.

I admit myself I used to comment in them about the view. Why!? If they are reading it they can see and make their own damn opinions. And I see people take whole pages of the books.

I personally like registers because they are the history of the mountain to me. I will climb a random peak and it's nice to know how often it is climbed or sometimes by how many total.
