How did you confirm the info on Mexican Camp? I have a vague recollection, I think from the old Sierra Club hiking guide for MW that there was some kind of sheep/packer station, supply depot/maildrop run by either a Mexican or an Anglo who named it after his Mexican wife. Something like that. Sort of Doug Sr's forerunner. But I thought it was at Outpost Camp (hence the modern name). I'll try to dig out the book. Interesting bit of lore.
