Mt Whitney Zone Forums General Discussion Is the Mt. Whitney Shelter usually open

I do not expect a nice cosy hut as the SAC-Hütten in Switzerland. I only seek a shelter in case of a thunderstorm. I will carry a tent with me just in case the hut is closed.

I rely on the lightning rods all over the Whitney Shelter. Am I wrong relying on the lightning rods?
