You covered it very well. Pace yourself, keep yourself fueled and hydrated. I had a small bag on my belt loop on my hip with snacks: mini Snicker bars, mini Cliff bars, M&M's, energy gel packets. These were accessible without having to take off my backpack. I used Gatorade powder and carried some in my pack for refilling my water bottles. Remember to continue fueling and hydrating on the way down.
