I have an overnight permit for one night but may have to cut my trip short. If I decided at the trailhead that I only have time for a day hike, would I still be allowed to head up the trail? My permit would show overnight but I wouldn't have a tent or bear canister with me. After explaining I am only doing a day hike, I still wouldn't want a ranger to turn me away. Thanks.
