Being a gearhead, I've got a couple different setups for baking in the backcountry. Before you dismiss this as too heavy or too much effort, think about it. Carrying powder baking mixes actually make sense in terms of calories per ounce per cubic inch. The powders pack into a bear canister very efficiently. So if canister space is a premium, or if you have kids or a group to please, baking can be both practical and a huge moral booster. If you can't sing and don't want to pack a guitar, baking might be the next best thing.
