Reno Frank, take a tip from Whitney Fan, who did the crossing last fall: Start your planning now. (I believe Julius did the same thing.) If you don't get lucky and find a car-shuttle option and day-hike like I did, you will need to arrange lodging at both ends, and trail permits. They are all in heavy demand, so the earlier you line things up, the easier it will be.
You will definitely enjoy Grand Canyon.
