Jeff, if you check the
2012 Unused Permits numbers, you can see that there will most likely be walk-in permits available for you if you go in on Tuesday and ask.
There really isn't a way to "trade" your permit. But try calling the wilderness permit number (760-873-2483) and tell them your situation.
