Thanks, John

I try to stay natty, even at 14,5 in a gale.

The trou aren't leather, although back in the day I did have a pair in chrome tan. They are Lowe Alpine, cotton blend, which actually aren't all that old. The boots and socks are, however. Zamberlan trekkers w/Vibram Montagne soles, the latter of which a couple people on the trail recognized from the prints, and wool socks that have been darned a zillion stitches, and good for another few hundred miles, at least.

I had promised these old friends over the years that I would get them on this trail one day, along with the '73 Serac, Class 5 bag, SVEA 123, 1945 G.I. canteen, etc. Pack weight went to 46 with 12 days food including a few indulgences at MTR, but steadily returned to about 32 at the Portal, with a couple big meals and some detritus added along the way left in it.

Body weight went from 197 in January to 175 at the Portal, too. I'm going to try to keep both down.

We'll see.
