Mt Whitney Zone Forums General Discussion Biking from Independence to Onion V in October?

When we were camping at Onion Valley last month, a cyclist rode through the campground & stopped to chat with us a little bit (he had some questions about the campground & the hiking available). He had ridden up from Independence. It was fairly early in the day (before 8am), so I imagine it didn't take him all that long to get up there.
