I do have an insulated air pad and am wondering if the lack of down on the bottom side affects the warmth while sleeping.
Well, I've been told that compressed down does nothing in terms of insulation. That's why they didn't insulate the bottom of the backcountry bed and why some people prefer down quilts.
I found the backcountry bed used. I had been planning on buying a quilt, but the deal was too good to pass up.
