I had planned on tackling Whitney this weekend with my friend, but with the storms coming in, we are considering alternative plans

Does anyone know about any snowshoe trails, or hikes that would be reasonably safe to do in the Sierras while there's snowfall?

I considered Horseshoe meadows to the old army pass towards Langley... but it seems the road up is closed (is there alternate access?) How do people access the meadow in the winter?

I also am considering Tuttle creek to the Ashram, and maybe to Langley but it looks like I have to get through an "avalanche chute" for that. Which wouldn't work out I think.

Any other suggestions? thanks
