Joe, been there a couple of times but haven't done much real hiking since Brianne was really young both times. This seems to be a good list of available trails - I think I've wandered the two Calico trails, but not much beyond that.

DO expect it to be hot as hell in the summer, brother. No elevation to cool things off. Hydrate often and pretend you're in Death Valley.

If it's too damn hot, consider driving 45 minutes northwest to Mt. Charleston (about 11K'). Nice road up to about 8500 feet and a multitude of trailheads. Shaded forest and much cooler temps.

When will you be in Vegas? We fly in there 7/8.
