sarasal, keep watching the online availability, you are likely to snag one or more permits. Once you have at least one, you can then keep watching and adding more if they come available. But I can assure you that since 8/4 is a Thursday, there will be plenty available the day before at the Visitor Center (the online system stops making reservables available 2 days before, thus the "w" designation. W means walk-in requests only.)

It is getting close to your date. Be sure to read up on AMS (See the 'what can go wrong' link to the left). Learn about it, think about maybe getting some Diamox. I myself drive up to Horseshoe Meadows and try to sleep two nights up there at 10,000 elevation before trying to day hike to the summit. Acclimatizing like that really helps. I just car-camp (in-car, or with just a cot and sleeping bag on the ground), and drive down to Lone Pine in between to pick up permits, etc.
