Our biggest mistake was nutrition related. We just needed a lot more calories than we had and we needed electrolytes. Basically salt. I have an electrolyte, energy powder that I use with cycling called Scratch. (there are a dozen other similar products) That would have made a world of difference. Or just some soy sauce or salt packets would have helped.
We had one bear canister that we shared between the three of us. We had a bunch of Cliff bars, some trail mix and probably the smartest thing we brought (unintentionally) was 2.5lbs of jerky we picked up along the way.
Getting started late was the second big mistake. We had to push way too hard to make Trail Camp.
