I'm one of those lucky people that got a permit on my first attempt and am climbing Whitney on June 15th and 16th. Judging from this seasons snowfall I'm expecting a large amount of snow and ice still on the trail.
Here's the issue...I live in Texas...haven't had a pair of crampons or an ice axe in over a decade... Are there any places that rent those items in or near Lone Pine or do I just need to pony up the cash and get my own again.
Also, I've enjoyed the wealth of information here on this forum. Thanks to whoever are the folks responsible for keeping it up!
