Recreationally discharging a firearm is okay on NF territory, so long as it is not on, or across a roadway, on or across a campground or developed recreation area, on a hiking trail, or near a body of water, and not in a wilderness area if it is not an emergency usage in accordance with state law.
That's three strikes for them, fire in a wilderness, shooting in a wilderness, and shooting next to a lake.
