I have been a Yankees fan since 1946 when I read Pride of the Yankees by Frank Graham. I'm sure this is way before most of you started following baseball at all.
I was a pretty good softball player, and dreamed of a big high school baseball career. I hit fastballs just as you reported but my big awakening came when I found I could not hit curve balls. Thus my dreams and baseball career ended abruptly & I became a runner instead.
