Maybe you can see why so manny people are confused by it.

Problem is the puzzle as stated is pulled out of its original context (Silent Hill 2) in which the ONLY problem is to figure out the current combination to get through the hospital door NOW. This was lost in translation.

The way you posed the puzzle it was not clear that you were asking for the keypad combination. it asks only "what will they do next month?" for which several correct answers were provided despite the misdirect of "only three letters".

ANd obviously, anyone who got the pattern also implicitly solved the question you did not ask, the number for T.

OK, WhitneyFan has us to lay off the Great Physics Sites Pursuit. True, we are neglecting this thread. SO, here's my favorite serious puzzle (outside of theology) of all time:

You stand before a full length mirror. Your image appears reversed horizontally, left for right, but not vertically, top for bottom.

Discuss.

Here is a theologian having a go at it. If I could beat this discussion, I would. (Do not click the link if you don't want to see someone from off of the list providing the answer.)

I did sort of want to see how/if the discussion got to Feynman's classic answer. that's why the call of the question is "Discuss", rather than "Link".

Fair enough, but having seen the clip before, my answer would have been derivative. I'll let others chime in, though, who did not watch the clip.

Actually, there is one respect in which the answer can be clarified, and that's how to visualize the process of the specific solution.

Puzzle: What is the largest integer whose digits are all different (and do not include 0) that is divisible by each of its individual digits?

I am not proud of the process, but I at least have a big number to suggest as a candidate.

Clearly, I want as many digits as possible.
I want big digits to the left.
If it has many digits, some must be even, which means the number is even.
I throw out 5 because an even number divisible by 5 has 0 as LSD.
Also, it has to end in 5 if it contains 5 as a digit.
If it has 9, the sum of the digits is divisible by 9. The smallest digit I can throw out (besides 5, which is gone already) is 4.
I am tired already but I am working with 9,8,7,6,3,1,2.
I played a bit in Excel with swapping pairs of digits.
9867312 works.
Is that the largest possibility?

Everything is directly opposite its image. Left hand faces left hand, head faces head, etc.

Your left hand faces the right hand of your image, but is is really your left hand. Paint a fingernail or do something else to distinguish it. Left faces left.

It seems funny because we are more or less left-symmetric, not up-down symmetric. If you lie on one side, the "reversal" is now top-bottom. Your left hand is up and your image's right hand is up, although it is still your left hand, as the painted fingernail reveals.

I just looked in the mirror and nothing was staring back. It's getting late...
