Hikers Release Video Of Rescue To Support Helicopter Crew
TAHOE NATIONAL FOREST, Calif. (CBS13) - A pair of hikers who were stranded in the wilderness after late season snow have posted the video of their rescue by helicopter online, hoping the dramatic video will drum up support for rescue crews at a time when counties are trying to trim costs.More Here: http://sacramento.cbslocal.com/2011/07/08/hikers-release-video-of-rescue-to-support-helicopter-crew/
The body betrays and the weather conspires, hopefully, not on the same day.

Can you find the video on YouTube? I can't.
Seems like they were in a brown, dry area without snow, yet they reported the snow prevented their getting out.

I'm usually pretty good at searching and finding things on the Internet, YouTube, whatever.
I couldn't find this one on YouTube after trying a number of varied searches.

CaT The video has been removed from You Tube by the poster. There is some speculation that the pair staged the need for rescue to get the video. Getting lost in that area is near impossible under the conditions present at the time. Exhaustion was also supposed to be a factor. They had plenty of food and equipment and could have rested up a bit. The rescue took place at 10AM.

With the news report's stressing the need to continue support for the SAR helicopter service, the idea that it was a staged event crossed my mind.

It looks like they were in this general area (which is a wide open vista to the right), which is more of a route than a trail. Conceivably, if one was really inexperienced, he/she could get panicky, but they looked darned healthy and had really nice weather for a rescue! They may not have noticed the freeway & ski resort within walking distance either. Nor, perhaps, would they have known that there is a HUGE jeep trail that rides up within less than a mile of the summit..... The view if you looked away from the tree line
