A question... Did everyone come from Reno, or were some of your group from other locations? Did anyone suffer much from the altitude?

From reading the trip report, it sounds like everyone is from Reno. ...It looks like living at that elevation (4500') must be the perfect prevention for AMS on Whitney.

All in our group are from Reno/Sparks. My house is above 5,000 ft. One person did have some nausea and a headache that lasted all day and night. Personally I felt no effects of the altitude:no shortness of breath,headache,or nausea. And my appetite was fine all day. I had a sandwich at the summit and a cheeseburger in Lone Pine about 9:45 that night. I'd like to eat at the Portal Store but we started at 3 AM and finished at 8:30 PM. Ok, so living in Reno isn't a sure cure for AMS, but it helps, since only one person in 11 was affected.
