Thought some on here might be interested... I recently hiked up Mt Whitney (trip report in the First Timers thread) and finally had a chance to sit down and identify the surrounding peaks.

Thanks for posting your pictures, Matt.

Could you also post the composite showing Alta Peak in Sequoia, and the reverse, Mt. Whitney from Alta. As one who has hiked Alta, it is fun recalling the view.

Beautiful photography!

In the last photo posted above, you show Polemonium Peak, but it is actually below the skyline. Just behind it, and towering above Polemonium, is the famous North Palisade--the highest 14er north of Mt. Williamson on the Sierra Crest. It is North Pal that is on the skyline as viewed from Mt. Whitney. I've seen other photographs with the same "ID" as yours, but they are also not quite correct. The ID is in the right direction for Polenmonium, but it is North Palisade that stands out on the skyline. Maybe a small thing, but the North Pal is fun to identify from the top of Whitney.

Thanks for your beautiful photos. I love the rich colors and contrasts. And thanks for taking all the time to annotate your pics.

Couldn't figure out how to edit my original post, but here's the Alta comparison:

Alta Peak/Mt Whitney

And thanks for the corrections on the IDs, when I get a chance I'll edit and update the photos.
