I'm looking for a new day pack and could use some help. My old CamelBak Rim Runner needs replacing. It has 1500cu and worked just fine volume wise. However, I would like something with more of a padded waistbelt for support. I also need the hydration piece to go with it. I use it for long day hikes, Whitney in a day, Yosemite high country, White Mt. ect. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I really enjoy my CamelBak Peak Bagger, 2000 cu. in. I use it for every outdoor activity I do, even hauling laptop and supplies when I bike to work. I used it one time on a 3-night JMT backpack in Yosemite, too.

I can't find any CamelBak with that much capacity now, but the 2010 Alpine Explorer is close at 1950 cu. in. Unfortunately they have lost the outside mesh side pockets that I sure find handy now and then.

It looks like you can find CamelBak over-nighter "Vantage" series packs designed in 2008 still on sale that are around 2000 cu in and larger.

CamelBak makes dozens of packs now, but I wouldn't trade my Peak Bagger for any of them.

There are also many many other packs that are now Camelback bladder compatible. I have an Osprey that I use for both a daypack AND a backpack (it is lighter than either of my day camelbackpacks) However, while the Ospray is known for its light weight, it is less padded than my heavier packs, but, BUT, BUT because it IS so much lighter, I find that I don't need so much padding as before. It is the "Official" pack of the Goatpack (our hiking 'gang')and none of the 5 of us would trade that pack for anything on the market right now

(we also endorse the Marmot Precip jacket and the Feathered Friends Down Booties wink

Bob this may be exactly what you are looking for. REI has the
GoLite VO24 Day Pack on sale, normally $90, but now $69.93.
Well padded in hips, weight is 1 # 6 oz and volume is 1500
cubic inches. Both the VO24 and Peak Pack below are hydration compatible.

It was recommended to me a year ago by someone on the Whitney
Portal Store Message Board and I bought one at reg. price, but
have not regretted it. Check it out on REI.com and put
GoLite Day Packs in the search area. GoLite also makes a
slightly bigger Day Pack: Peak Pack, 2200 cu inches, 1# 11 oz and it costs $125 at REI.

Laura was the one who directed me to this pack. BUT I
refuse to believe that she can put all her "stuff" that she
carries, even on a day hike, in a 1500 cu inch capacity
pack ! Must have a waist pack too or alot of stuff hanging
from the loops.

Just kidding Laura, we still love you

I've been using a Gregory Z30 for the last few years but I do believe it's been discontinued. Therefore, it can be found for not a lot of dollars.
