Clouds have pulled back from my vantage point in Ridgecrest - looking north at Olancha - it looks like good powder coverage down to 6-7k feet.

trip was awsome.. snowshoes are a must and I did not bring mine.. frown

Day 1 camp at the Portal as the roads are closed so you have to hike 4 miles to the Portal.

Day 2 camp at LBSL and there was some deep snow.. without snowshoes I would not make it to UBSL and be back at work Monday..

Why does WORK always get in the way, heheheh??

Portal: Camp 1

All trip photos here!

It got down to about 10 degrees at the Portal:

Deep snow on the way to LBSL camp 2

I use a 10 degree bag I sleep warm and get hot quick. I do recommend 2 sleeping pads, sleeping directly on snow/ice can get cold quick.

I only took one sleeping pad to save space and wish I brought the roll up foam pad for an extra layer..

temps were in the 30 to 40 during the day and as cold as 10 at night!

Nice pictures, Tommy. Thanks!

Who were two others in the one picture?

Looks like the road is a mess:

tommy,
great info.

I have a 15deg bag and I definitely sleep warm too. I have several pads and would definitely bring two.

thanks,
tom
