There's not one example cited of Marines involved in marijuana eradication, and that's a good thing - it would have to go on forever. There's no end game and there are not enough Marines to cover all the forests. Secondly, it ain't gettin' done. Illegal cultivation in the areas we like to hike in is spreading out of control despite all these National Guard troops and billions of dollars spent over decades. It's been a failure and there's no indication it will ever work.

Let's wait and see how legalized growing works in Colorado and Washington before bringing Marines into our forests. Will it reduce the incentive to grow illegally in our forests? Perhaps. We can always go back to what ain't working now.

Operation Crackpot....yes, looking for meth labs (crack) and marijuana fields (pot)...

We don't "broadcast" our accomplishments....no embedded reporters...celer, silens, but no mortalis when it comes to covert operations. We let the law handle the handcuffs, we just say to the perps, "Sit your punk @$$ down."

So no examples, no press releases...get in, get out, git'r done, and get home.

If by "git'r done" you mean making a small dent in the supply that ultimately raises the price a little bit which increases profits, which then attracts more people into the business, then I guess we're done.

Are you worried about your supply?

All sniping aside (note that I speak to no one in particular)

On the way to Yosemite (which was very smokey, by the by;all those hikers need to cut back on the tokes)this topic of legalizing cannibus came up, and there were more questions than answers. Answers are welcome:

1. Will legalizing cannibus put an end to the increasingly violent and profitable black market? (much like it ended bootlegging)

2. Has anyone addressed how "intoxication" will be determined as comparable to a DUI?

3. Will taxation etc cause domestically grown "product" to be more expensive than foreign produced, thus, increase the black market (somewhat related to question #1)

4. Will the same advertising/marketing restrictions be placed and will cannibus come onto the market with all the negatives attached -- openly -- like cigarettes?

5. Finally, as mentioned earlier in the discussion: Will there be a marked increase in the use of cannibus if it is legalized, thus, further deteriorating the already failing health of the US citizen? (lung disease is serious)(and just add to the already strained medicare/caid quagmire?)

The body betrays and the weather conspires, hopefully, not on the same day.

Good questions.

2. http://www.dmv.org/ca-california/automotive-law/dui.php#California-DUI-Defined

3. California would probably tax the marijuana at least as much as tobacco.

4. It ought to have the same warnings as tobacco, be banned in public places, around children, and have an additional warning regarding intoxication.

5. http://www.drugabuse.gov/publications/drugfacts/marijuana

The last question is one avoided by most marijuana advocates and consumers.

Illegal drugs and the miss-use of prescription drugs are cancers in our society.
