TR from my successful trip to Willi and Tyndall last year.

After positive reviews of my Rim to Rim TR, I decided to do a TR of this trip. It took me nearly a year to write this report (I've been working on my writing skills) and then I lost most of my photos and eventually gave up trying to recover them and used the lower resolution ones I had posted to Facebook.

I hope you enjoy. Warning: I love long trip reports. Click the link that says "Read Full Trip Report" and you can progress to the next day by scrolling to the bottom and clicking "Continued: Day X"

If you aren't a reader, enjoy the photos!

Excellent trip report SB, but good lord you need to lower that pack weight, and your friends need to learn to share food.

This is a good primer that you may find handy:

Thanks!!!

They did share food. I'm just a big guy at six and half feet and 280 lbs. (that isn't just fat, I lift regularly, I can run 5 miles, and I regularly hike over 20 miles). I'll metabolize 6,000-8,000 calories on a solid hiking day. I'm just big and I require loads of food.

I did the JMT with 50-70lbs on my back. With two break days I still completed the journey in just over two-weeks. Heavy? Yes, but maybe a 50 lb. pack is the equivalent of 35-40 lbs. for someone of average height.

Thanks for the resources!! I 'm steadily trimming back my load, but I still carry a lot of food and camera gear.
